Davey found that her background in psychotherapy and photography work go hand in hand. Having been a psychotherapist has helped to enhance her work behind the camera. “My psychotherapy work demands that I stay fully present to both my state and my clients. This attunement to [the] process fully translates onto my photography,” she shared in an interview with LensCulture. “In both, I find myself responding instinctively to my external and internal worlds, doing a careful dance between the two.”

 

A Full-Time Commitment


Sian Davey

Proving her commitment to the craft, Davey studied to receive her Master’s Degree in Photography at Plymouth University in England. She is now working in photography full time, continuing to capture beautiful moments on film and get accolades. She also continues to take pictures of Alice and the rest of her family, striving not for perfection but for honesty and authenticity with every shot.
