Corvin Castle, Transylvania
They built this immense fortress over an older fortification in 1446. It is said to be the inspiration for the famous Castle Dracula. This, coupled with the legend it was where Vlad the Impaler was a prisoner, makes it a must-see destination for lovers of vampires.

Door to Hell, Turkmenistan
Despite its ominous-sounding name, this vibrant place is nothing more than a gas field that collapsed into an underground cavern. To prevent the spread of methane gas contained within, scientists set it on fire in 1971. And it has remained ablaze ever since. This firey spectacle is 70 meters in diameter and 20 meters deep.
