For some kids, a Tamagotchi was the closest thing to a pet they could get. These popular toys allowed users to feed and potty train a virtual animal.
Released in 1997 in North America, they flew off shelves in record time. As of 2017, an astounding 82 million Tamagotchi toys have been sold worldwide. Recently, Tamagotchis made a comeback with Tamagotchi On.
