If you could name one place on Earth that would be the least ideal place to have a baby, certainly a war zone would be among the top. But it’s happened.
Back in 2012, Lynette Pearce was a 28-year-old British soldier in Afghanistan. Although she had gained weight throughout her station there, she never suspected she was pregnant. Of course, if she had, she would’ve been sent home from the tour, since it’s against policy to fight on the front lines while pregnant. But fight on the frontlines is exactly what Pearce did until she unexpectedly gave birth to Immanuel Izadore Gah on a military base in Afghanistan.
Although five-weeks premature, the baby boy was thankfully healthy.
