Plumbers also teach apprentices seeking to enter the profession. Most plumbers receive their training through apprenticeships and courses at a technical school. The apprenticeships are often offered through unions in your area, and once you complete it, you would pass your state’s licensing exam. You will also need at least five years of experience as part of the licensing process. Plumbers generally earn up to $52,000 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
