Up for the Task
Sian Davey
For Davey, the photos with Alice among the family came from the life they lead together. She always has her camera with her so she was able to capture real moments instead of something posed and inauthentic. “I worked in a way that accessed both my conscious ideas and some of the more unconscious ones that arose,” the photographer revealed.
A Normal Life
Sian Davey
Looking for Alice is an illustration of family life, according to Davey, with “all the tensions, joys, ups and downs that go with the territory.” In the many photographs, Alice is seen smiling, crying, and playing like any other child her age does. With this series, others are able to see that she really is the same in spite of her condition.
