Do Not Punish the Child
The child of a single parent is still just a child. In their efforts to fill the role of both parents, some parents become overly harsh in the way they treat their children. Due to socioeconomic disadvantages, some single parents live in dangerous neighborhoods, which also presents a supposed reason for being tougher on children. No matter where a child lives or who the child lives with, every child has the same emotional needs.
Pursue Promotions
To be clear, all single parents are not poor, but there are certain factors that make single parents prone to being economically challenged. Although there is added pressure on a single parent to make more, consider taking more career risks. What if you go back to school? What if you apply for that job you think you will not get? If there is a way to make more, explore the option. Do not let necessity stop you from taking opportunities.
