Save Time and Money Cleaning the Bathroom

Let’s face it: cleaning the bathroom is no one’s favorite task. And we definitely don’t want to spend more time and money than we have to! Check out these tips to quickly clean the bathroom without having to buy new cleaning supplies!

Make Cleaning the Bathroom Less of a Hassel!

Cleaning the Sink and Faucet

Forget pricey bathroom surface wipes. Just use a damp paper towel to wipe out the sink and faucet after everyone’s morning routine. Doing so will keep grime and toothpaste debris from building up and becoming difficult to clean. Cleaning this way will also help prevent pesky sink clogs from cropping up.

Put Your Shower to Work

When you’re ready to deep clean your bathroom, let the shower do some work for you while you don’t lift a finger! Turn the water on hot, close the door, and just let it run a few minutes. The resulting steam will loosen up mildew and dirt to make it much easier to remove.

The Power of Baking Soda

Prefer natural cleaners to chemicals? A lot of routine bathroom cleaning can be done with a little baking soda on a damp sponge or brush. Use it on sinks to gently scrub away debris. You can also use it to remove soap scum and mildew from tubs and showers. For heavy buildup, sprinkle it on surfaces and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then, just wipe and rinse.

White Vinegar Isn’t as Basic as You Think

It’s known more as a kitchen basic, but white vinegar can do a lot to keep your bathroom spic and span! It’s helpful from the shower to the toilet to the sink. To clean the shower head, attach a zipper bag of white vinegar with a rubber band and allow it to soak overnight. Scrub the openings with an old toothbrush as soon as you remove the bag.

Seriously, White Vinegar Rocks!

To clean the toilet, pour one cup of white vinegar or a couple tablespoons of Borax into the toilet bowl, then scrub it with a bristle brush. Pouring a cup of white vinegar into the bowl and letting it sit overnight before flushing will help prevent hard water stains.

Use Your Washing Machine

Spot-cleaning the shower liner is so time-consuming! Instead, just throw it in the washing machine. Add a half-cup of baking soda to your usual detergent and a half-cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle (it fights mold and mildew). Lastly, throw a couple towels in before you start the wash cycle (they’ll help the liner get clean). When it’s done, just re-hang it on the rod to allow it to dry.

Keep Those Bath Toys Clean

Kids’ bath toys can harbor a smelly black-colored residue if left filled with water too long. To clean them, warm 2/3 cup of water to 1/3 cup of white vinegar in the microwave and then soak the toys in it for a little while. Next, squeeze the toys multiple times to suck the mixture in and force it back out. To prevent future build-up, simply empty the toys of water after every bath time.

Windshield Wiper Isn’t Just for Cars

Shower doors looking murky? Head to the garage for rain-repellent windshield wiper spray. Spritz it onto a microfiber cloth, shine the glass, and then wipe again with a dry one. Doing this just brings long-last results so you won’t have to spend any time doing it again for months!

And Furniture Cleaner Isn’t Just for Furniture!

The metal frame of the shower door can be a magnet for water spots. Grab the furniture cleaner that you use in the living room. Just add a little bit to a soft cloth and wipe gently–it will get rid of them like magic.

The Power of a Squeegee

The best way to save time cleaning the bathroom? Keep yourself from having to do it! Just use a little elbow grease and a squeegee on bathroom tiles after each shower and you’ll never have to clean soap scum build up!
